So I got the pleasure to meet Tommy about a year ago due to a Atwater party in my old town. A few months later after speaking with him a few times I felt that he would be a great person to speak to about being a up and coming New Jersey surfer. So we met up and mister modest couldn't speak about himself. A very shy Tommy was not a easy task to write a personal story about. So I decided to meet him out for a few beers. Which turned into shots. Then eventually turned into me getting all the information I needed. Now maybe less then a year ago later Tommy has shed his skin and now is making the life and times of Tommy a public broadcast.
Tommy's blog www.thetommylog.com is a self made journal for the young lad which is making some news quick. As I saw all the feed about it I had to take a bite and check it out. It is not what I thought it would be at all, which was refreshing. I thought it would be a straight surf inspired blog with nothing but pictures of him shredding and shout outs to his sponsors. But when I entered his address the first thing I saw was his gnarly stash photo. It caught me by surprise to see that this was Tommy the person that I know, not Tommy the surfer. Although it is surf inspired due to him being an amazing surfer it also has focus on his life outside of surfing. It is not a blog to boost his career which many pro surfers use to make themselves more marketable. Besides there is no fun in looking at picture after picture of some dude surfing. I need personality to make myself interested in anyone. So with that justice Tommy's life also revolves around trips to NYC with friends and apparently building igloos. Yes igloos.... With Atwater Collection his clothing sponsor fully supporting his Poloroid Madness archives, I am happy to see that Tommy is doing his own thing without the help of anyone. A lot of people are scared of blogging or even updating their Facebook status to what they really want to say. Although when I met him he hated talking about himself he now has his own blog to let it do the talking for him. I expect to see a lot of rad posts coming in the future with his travels, and seeing how far he is going to grow his stash... I wish Tommy the best of luck with this new venture and hope that it turns into something that he never thought would happen. In a good way.
"besides my own self amusement i enjoy when people get a laugh out of one of my posts. somebody who is having a shitty day might read one of my posts and smile. that could change their whole day to something positive over negative."
